Once again Ive been very slack with keeping up to date with posting images and information, Ive had a very busy year.

As Im in year 11, most of my time is spent doing hw :P Ive also been concentrating on my music, something that has been a big part of me since forever hhahaha

Daisy has slowly seen improvement, starting with the front suspension system.

That was completely overhaul and is now back in the car, just waiting on some extra parts for the brake assembly and it will be all finished. After that the wheel/suspension part of the car is done!!

The engine is currently sitting down at GHR motors waiting on parts and money :P This kombi is a never ending money pit!!!

We also have totally redone the front floor and seat backs. The front floor was cut out and then welded back in (kudos for my grandpa) and the seat backs have been stripped and primed.

Okay, where do we start.........

1) Engine case has been cleaned.

2) Trans has been in for a service/overhaul.

3) Front suspension system is currently being dropped, there are a lot of things to dissemble! :P

4) Started to dissemble the lights, (headlights and indicators) there was moss growing in the crevasses XP

So thats whats happened in a very short post....

Im so tired :P

Just spent about 2 hours cleaning my parts cleaner out, there was about 2cm of grit on the bottom of it.

In the morning spent my time cleaning the front left wheel arch and ball joints.

Spring Clean

Started cleaning the inside today, starting at the door.. nothing a bucket of water and scouring pad can't fix :D

Put the left rear bearing housing back on yesterday which had been packed on the weekend. Brake drums have been sprayed as well, would have done them earlier but we had no primer..

Started thinking bout the body, i like these colours =>

Plan to put the brake assembly back together this weekend.

Well, The rear wheels are off along with the CV Joints, wheel mounts, brakes and CV shafts.

Been cleaning and respraying parts (Brake drums etc) and is coming along nicely.
Its the first rebuilding I've done which is pretty sad... :(

But its happening, Daisy is becoming as good as new bit by bit and its progress, and that's what i like to see.

alots happened in the last few weeks. We started by dragging Daisy up the driveway and stole dad's garage and we are now waiting for new CV joints.

I never really realised how much rust is on the under body of her!!

Last Saturday was the day, spent all day pulling parts off the engine, and finally split the case!

Crankcase berings are veeerrryyyy worn, new ones are going to be needed, same with the rest of the bottom end.... :(

I've started with the interior, cleaning various plastics, removing insulation, etc. etc.

Decided not to paint Daisy and keep her a roughy...

First posts in a while... Been really busy lately

Final got the fan housing, oil cooler, piston housings etc., off.

I've also started sanding the paint off the body (yes I know, why would you do that?!?) it is coming off pretty easy apart from the dented areas....

After taking the engine out, out came the tinware, and the 1.5 kilos of grease and build up! All I've done so far is clean tinware and pull the alternator and exhurst off.

I went down to the annual 'Day of the Volkswagen' event down at Glenelg the other day. I was very disappointed that I couldn't take Daisy down, she would have won the most phycaldelic! I really got thinking down there about what I should do (rear, cabin, engine etc.) and there was some real good suppliers down there. Worth a look next year I guess

Got the engine stand in today and mounted Daisy's engine up there after a lot of sweat and tears trying to get it up! First thing to come of is the exhurst thatif we can that is because the bolts have rusted over so much!!

Will keep you all updated.

Dad's been away for a while and he got back on Friday so we finally got to drop the engine out this afternoon.

It took awhile to workout what bolt belonged to which part and what would happen when we unscrewed that but we got there in the end and it was worth it.

We did have a trolley with us at the time so we'll have to find one to get it out and off the backyard lawn and into the garage where it safe and dry (Yes, Adelaide did get a drizzle of rain tonight...)

First run

Daisy went for her first run Yesterday. It went pretty well, the only thing we had to do in fix up the fuel lines to the carbies. At the moment Daisy's running on 3 instead or 4 cylinders and has a very rusted and tired exhurst but it can all be fixed, somehow...

First Steps

Bought my first parts today, an engine gasket set, 3 front badge clips and a pedal hinge kit. They should be here in around 1 week cos I bought them online (TheBusStop.com.au is a great site for kombi parts!)

We've finally got plans now. First, rip out the engine, check that and clean up the engine bay, concentrate on any rusted areas is next (e.g. side step, bumper, cargo floor), then any other mechanical work (suspension, brakes, steering etc. etc.) and last but not least, a new paint job. All that and little stuff in between will take about 2 years hopefully!!

I can't believe it! I haven't had any time for anything apart from pulling out the spare tires and the curtains! So much to do, so little time. This weekend we go away and then schools back, looks like I'll be cramming everything into weekends now. Sorry about the pics, the cameras screwed! :(

Yay! I can't believe it! I'm 14 and I bought my first car! Now I have two years to get Daisy up and running in time for when I start driving!!
I'm picking her up on Saturday and will post some photos then on the epic battle getting from the back of the sellers yard!
But I didn't just pay outright, with a little help from the parents the 2k was fix up easy and all I need to do is repay them, bit by bit, month by month. Will post again on Saturday.

Thank god for the kombi club! "Daisy" as the number plates say, is going for $2,000 bucks. (A little over budget of 1000 but that's ok) It is a copy of a splity that castrol painted for some ads yonks ago. It's 99.9% percent rust free and has a great body. The engine is not starting which is unfortunate but a lot of spit, elbow grease and gaffa tape will fix that! Hahaha!
